Fox Pulls Ads For “Neighborhood Watch” In Florida
The ongoing controversy surrounding slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin is having an effect on the film industry.
According to “The Hollywood Reporter,” Fox has decided to remove the teaser poster and trailer for the upcoming comedy “Neighborhood Watch” from Florida theaters.
The poster features the picture of an alien on a neighborhood watch sign that is riddled with bullet holes.
The trailer also shows Jonah Hill’s character using his hand to pretend he’s shooting at a group of teens.
A spokesperson for Fox says that while their film “bears absolutely no relation” to the Martin case, they are “very sensitive” to the situation.
“Neighborhood Watch” will feature Hill, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Richard Ayoade. The film is due in theaters on July 27th.
Trayvon Martin was walking through a gated community in Sanford, Florida last month when he was shot and killed by a neighborhood watchman named George Zimmerman.
Zimmerman was said to be suspicious of Martin and called police.
Martin was dead by the time authorities arrived, with Zimmerman claiming he was forced to shoot the teen in self-defense.
WOW so sad…
