Jimi Hendrix Biopic Production Hits Roadblock
The family of Jimi Hendrix is not supporting his new biopic “All is By My Side” starring Andre 3000 as Hendrix. The estate has released a statement saying “[The Hendrix Estate] has made it know many times in the past that no such film, were to include original music or copyrights created by Jimi Hendrix, can be undertaken without its full participation.
“CEO Janie Hendrix, sister of Jimi Hendrix, and the [Experience Hendrix] board, have not ruled out a ‘biopic’ in the future, though producing partners would, out of necessity, have to involve the company from the inception of any such film project if it is to include original Jimi Hendrix music or compositions.”
So far no plans have changed for the John Ridley directed film. Filming is still set to begin later this month in Ireland without the blessing of the Hendrix family.
