President Obama is ahead of Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney in a new poll of voters in Virginia.

The “Washington Post” poll comes just ahead of Obama’s official national re-election campaign kickoff on Saturday at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.

Obama leads the former Massachusetts governor 51 percent to 44 percent among registered voters in the survey. The President has a big lead with women voters and younger poll participants.
