With the menace of coronavirus growing at a faster pace, we see the tech giants – Facebook, Amazon and Google visiting the WHO or the World Health Organization officer. The reps of the companies met with the officials of WHO to chalk out programs to discuss the coronavirus outbreak. The meeting was organized as the Menio Park Campus of Facebook which the spokesperson of the social media giant confirmed. At the meeting, the world health organization was seen sharing the required info with the group regarding the response to the coronavirus to the people present at the venue talking about the outbreak.
Each company rep presented their views about the menace and they were at a consensus to share their efforts in the public domain despite being competitors. The other companies were also present at the meeting who voiced support. Apart from the tech giants, the other companies that participated include Twilio, Alphabet, Dropbox, Verizon, Twitter, YouTube and Salesforce. Even the private companies too were seen participating like Kinsa, Mapbox, and Airbnb. The others who were called but failed to send their reps include Apple, Uber, and Lyft.
The key topics discussed include the spread of misinformation about the virus. Andy Pattison from WHO who joined the meeting from Silicon Valley said that the tone seems to be changing as big companies are now gearing up to combat the fake news regarding the spread of the cake news. Pattison then claimed that the meeting will help in the companies for the fact that they can info about their users along with the post rather than replying over the third parties. As we see people continuing to get information regarding the virus, we see bad actors taking up the advantage of the curiosity for getting the money-making opportunity. The books seemed to have popped up over Amazon, which stroke was seen fearing a lot about the virus and the fake news stories too were seen spreading over social media platforms like Facebook.
The other topics discussed in the meeting include the disaster preparedness and the methods to choose to spread the fact to consumers. In recent weeks, more than 64,000 were seen affected by the virus. The companies at the meeting also talked about the priorities to be set for combating the menace of the virus. The companies would soon revert with the preventive measurements for the coming time to combat the virus.
