In the latest tech buzz, the largest company in mobile devices and others called Apple has set a new deadline for application developers for complying with the Chinese laws that are around the mobile video games. This move can hamper smaller companies. The regulations came into effect in Chine in 2016, which demands all the mobile game developers keen on having the purchase or charge for their content for getting the required license from any unit of the censors of the country. This approval number is required to be offered to Apple by the end of June this year.
Earlier, Apple has issued a notification about this development, however, has not set any deadline for the same. The law in China would now need the games to get secured for an approval number for the General Admin of Press and Publication of China, which was communicated to the developers in a message by Apple. It further asked to give away the number to the company by 30th of June this year for all the paid games or apps that they intend to distribute in the Chinese market. They are required to enter the approval number and the date. To learn more about the same, you can check the complete content about the regulation.
This message has come to suggest the Apple allowing the mobile games to get published over the App Store without any license to date. It is still not clear what would happen to the application if the game makers will not offer the approval by the 30th of June. When asked about the same, the Apple officials denied commenting on the same. The operating system of Apple has around 21 percent of the market share when it comes to the Chinese market, while for Android it is around 79 percent claimed the reports of Kantar. On the other side, Android has been complying with this law and regulations since the past four years when it came to effect.
For Apple, China has remained a key market. All thanks for being the largest mobile games market in the world. As per the market research company called Newzoo, iOS is expected to generate around 53 percent of the total revenue coming through mobile games that go to around 13 billion USD. However, it is not very clear as to what kind of impact it would have on the new rules that could have on the App Store revenues when it comes to China with this notice to the game developers. However, it is going to impact the small-time developers and companies to get to see their games published. Getting the license from any Chinese government would barely mean the foreign game publishers would require to form any partnership with the Chinese company.
