In the recent shutdown of the Facebook office in Seattle, as some of its employees have been tested positive for the contagious virus, the company has shut down the office and has encouraged the people to work from home. Facebook has asked all its 5000 employees in Seattle from home this month. Just when the company found a contractor based in its Stadium East Office with the COVID-19 positive result, the company has shut down the office for a month or so. The company has sent out the notice to their employees as a preventive measure to work from home. The same has gone with Amazon as well as the e-commerce giant has asked its employees to work from home.
Amazon is seen asking its employees based in Seattle along with the Bellevue offices for working from home till the end of the month as one of its employees also tested positive for the lethal virus. The company later informed their employees to change the workplace for the employees which are not less than 2000 in number. Talking to the media, the Amazon spokesperson claimed that they are reconsidering the employees based in areas like Seattle and Bellevue who are seen asking to work from home and carry out the things at home by the end of the month. The previous month, Amazon was seen restricting the travel of its employees outside the US for the coronavirus threat.
There are many other technology-based companies that have been encouraging their employees to work from home for the coronavirus outbreak. As discussed above, the social media giant has encouraged all of its 5,000 employees to work from home by shutting down its Seattle based office for the rest of the month. Similar is the story at Microsoft where the company has asked its employees based in the Bay Area and Puget Sound to start working from home while the Microblogging site called Twitter also had similar advice for the same.
As of yesterday, so far more than 95,700 people all across the world have been affected by the virus and the death toll has reached to around 3,280 deaths. In the US alone, there are around 159 confirmed cases of this lethal virus, while it has reported around 11 deaths. The state of Washington has reported the maximum number of cases of this lethal virus and it has led to the death of ten people in the region till Wednesday. The health officials have confirmed 39 deaths in the country, while 231 people still remain under supervision. With such a grim situation out there more and more companies are lined up to make their employees work from home. After all, health is at stake.
