Google Removed the app -2020 Sikh Referendum from Play Store

The Giant search engine has removed not less than 29 malicious apps from the Play Store in the recent move in its clean up drive. Now, we see one more app has been removed from the Play Store from the Android Market. And this time, the reason seems interesting as it falls under the category of being anti Indian. The Chief Minister of the Indian State Punjab, Mr. Amarinder Singh has demanded to remove the app known as “2020 Sikh Referendum” from the Play Store for being the anti-India in nature.

Now, we see the application is no more seen in the Play Store for the Indian users. The CM has asked the DGP of Punjab to coordinate with the concerned department called the Central security agencies to deal with the threat that resulted in the launch of this app, which was created by the group ‘ICETECH’. The CM has even asked the Union Government to take this matter with the tech giant – Google to consider this matter. The application has been asked for the general public to register themselves to vote in the Punjab Referendum 2020 Khalistan. As per the site – www.yes2khalistan.org, the application was launched on the same lines for the very same reason.

Now, the big question is how and why the tech giant has allowed such application to be loaded on the Play Store even for being known as the radical extremist group in the first place that seems to be questionable, claimed the CM as cited by an IANS report. He claimed that the timing of the application launch would indicate a patently sinister agenda with the ISI in order to leverage the chance that was created by the Kartarpur Corridor for putting the divide the Indian Sikh community. The Cyber Crime Center of the CBI of Punjab seems to have moved to get the application removed from the Google Play and has even blocked the website for the users of India. They acted under the Section 79 (3) B of the Information Technology Act and reported to the matter for the removal of the mobile application. Google seems to have removed the 29 malicious app from Play Store and then came the turn of this application. Ironically, the app was downloaded 10 million times from the Play Store that led the people to act against it.
