Google Warns 12k People in Three Month for being hit by Government Hackers

In less than three months, the tech giant, Google has sent out more than 12,000 warning to people who have been in the victim of the government backed hackers. As per the Threat Analysis Group of Google, in the months of July to September in 2019, the said number of users from 149 nations all across the world were sent warning as they were the target of the government backed attackers. A majority in the US and the 90 per cent were seen targeting the phishing email along with trying to steal the login details of the users for Google accounts.

As per reports, the data were seen consistent as per the number of warnings given during the time period of 2018 and 2017. Google was also seen recommending the high risks users including professionals like the journalists, political activities, human rights activists and people carrying out political drives for registering for APP or the Advanced Protection Program. It brings out several secret keys over the USB along with the Bluetooth devices, which any user will be able to connect to their device once getting a password for their Google account. Unless one finds an attacker getting access to that physical key, even if they are seen having your password, the backers will not be able to get into their accounts.

Similar sort of security is given to the average users who are not into the target list of the nation backed hackers when it comes to privacy and protection. As per the TAG team of the tech giant, a majority of government sponsored hackers are behind the attacks of catastrophic NotPetya ransomware in 2017 along with the Sandworm getting targeted in November 2018.

The Google researchers Neel Mehta and Billy Leonard were the people who disclosed the event called CYBERWARCON held in Washington D.C. last week, which further discussed this subject in the media. They disclosed how developers of everyday apps having their base in countries like Ukraine attack with Sandworm virus on things like local bus timetables and email apps. The hackers’ Android tools are known to have several malicious features like the capability to spy on GPS locations along with raiding the files. Now, with Google sending out warning letters to the victims, it is also making it apps and other things full proof to avert such hacking attacks.
