Facebook is Now developing its own Operating System to avoid dependency on Android

Despite all odds faced by the social media giant – Facebook with issues like privacy scandals, mismanagement of user data and the federal injunction, the company has its own plan to go smooth. As per a recent survey, the company is now planning to develop its own operating system since it wants to reduce the dependency on Google based OS called Android. As per the company called The Verge, the development has been started and is led by none other than an ex-Microsoft based official called Mark Lucovsky. He is the man who was behind Windows NT operating system with others in MS.

Although the reports suggesting this news has little details about the plans of the social media giant about the way it wants to pursue this venture, but it certainly points out the fact that the company portal devices like Oculus are heavily relying on Android. This gives us an idea that the company is now planning to come out with a new operating system to replace the OS – Android over its smart devices and the VR. Even one of the top officials of the Facebook called Ficus Kirkpatrick (the AR and VR Head) claims vouch for this news. As per this man, all the hardware belonging to Facebook will not rely on the software of Google. This means it will get rid of Google’s control of the company’s hardware.

Another man who hinted about the same includes Andrew Bosworth, who heads the hardware team of the company said that it has space for such requirements. He continued saying that the company intends to do this on its own. Besides the portal devices and Oculus, the company is also taking care of AR Glasses at the very same time starting its work on these devices too. Facebook now is taking up the brain control interface for the devices that can help the users to manage their thoughts with their developed Operating systems.

Just what Facebook has thought today, similar was the story of Apple earlier for its hardware. Now, Facebook seems to have gone one step ahead with its hardware in the coming future. Also, the company is working on its tailor-made chip hardware and the voice assistant at the same time. Facebook has already confirmed the same. However, it should be also noted that the previous efforts of Facebook of developing its own operating system did not go well carried out in 2013. All they did was to come out with a forked version of Android, which only worked well on the HTC device and users often remained critical about the same.
