It was extremely a stressful year for the Internet users as Twitter yesterday confessed that a malicious code has been disseminated in one of its applications by one bad actor, which seems to have hampered the information of the users all across the world including India. The users all across the world received an email from Twitter claiming that they have no update about the app for the operating system of Google commonly called Android. Thus the vulnerability found within Twitter for Android has only allowed the bad actor to act against the wishes of the Microblogging site thus taking the control of the users’ accounts.
The fixing of the issue seemed complex procedure that involved kicking the bad actor inside thus accessing the information from the application claimed the statement. The company then claimed that it doesn’t have any direct evidence, which malicious code seems to have entered inside the application or the vulnerability could have been exploited, however, this may not be completely sure claimed the users getting affected with the same. The Twitter handle claimed that they would fix the issue with the help of notifying the people about the expose regarding the vulnerability with the Twitter app or with the help of email with certain specific instructions to make things safe.
All the Microblogging site did was to recommend people to update the latest version for their operating system called OS and then they would remain safe without hampering the Twitter for iOS. The Microblogging site then claimed in an email that the Indian suers would not remain hampered with it and that they are feeling apologetic about this breach happened at their end. The Office of Data Protection of Twitter now has requested the info about their account security. This latest data breach has come on Twitter only when numerous users from India got the pop-ups from the Tech Giant Google over mobile and desktop screens while they were seen accessing Twitter via Google Chrome. This message alerted people regarding the data breach over their website or application, which they seemed to have visited and led to the password expose.
Soon after this incident was reported, Twitter was quick to issue a warning about the data breach to the Indian users along with the others, which helped them to fix not less than 79 bugs and then addressed other things in the public domain. The Microblogging site asked everyone to instantly change their password as there seems to a data breach that has exposed the password. Even Chrome has issued similar notifications to the users asking to change the password.
This is not the first time when Twitter has faced issues on security. Earlier this year in May, the company has experienced similar bg and they shared the same to the iOS users about the data breach to the unnamed partner even when the users were seen sharing the data. The bug then seemed effective in the iOS user base of Twitter, which soon notified about this issue. In Feb, the bug was reported in a private tweet exposing Twitter to some of the Android users over five years when they were seen changing their settings including adding email addressed that were linked to their accounts.
