Sheryl Sandberg, the chief operating officer of Facebook had some good news for people in the UK as he announced that the UK will have 4000 jobs in their offices. Currently, the country has 3000 employees working for the social media giant, which is the biggest force outside the US where the company is based. Most of the job openings for the company would focus on products and technology. One of the key focus of the growth would plan in boosting up the company’s efforts in managing the toxic content.
Facebook claimed that it would look into the areas like development, artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality along with helping the WhatsApp and Workplace, which is targeted at the businesses that are considered as rival to companies like Microsoft and Slack. The company is all set to employ a whopping amount of people in their development team that would further help in building up tools for finding out removing the toxic content over Facebook along with other platforms like Instagram, Whatsapp and FB messenger. Of late, the availability of fake news has been the key concern around the world for people.
A majority of jobs created by FB in the UK would be high skilled jobs that would help in addressing the challenges of an open internet along with developing AI in order to find out the toxic content shared on social media as soon as possible. They are going to help in building several tools which would help in getting smaller businesses group and compete big size companies for creating new jobs. The current government in the UK is now in the process to embark upon new laws against handling the fake news and toxic content. The recent announcement by Facebook to create more number of jobs in the UK alone can be a welcome news for the country. Now, the company has a new space in London located at King’s Cross that carries 6,000 workstations. The first full-fledged building is going to open in late 2021.
